A Financial Agency Built For Craft

At Small Batch Standard, everything we do is in the service of helping craft breweries grow profits. We do this in order to build deep, successful relationships with the owners and operators who make this industry great.

Why We’re Here

We believe in craft.

And because of that belief, our ultimate aim at Small Batch Standard is to get craft owners and operators back to what they got into the business to do in the first place: brewing delicious beer, building a legacy, and creating memorable experiences for their customers.

We do what we do in order to enable those goals through financial discipline, informed strategy and intelligent decision-making.

All aimed at generating profit and creating the essential ingredients the business needs in order for its vision, its owners, and its employees to reach their full potential.

How We Serve

How we work is just as important as the results that we deliver. Everything that we do, day-in and day-out, is guided by our core values and is embodied in our team, our process, and our relationships with clients, partners, and the industry.

Our core values are:

  • Be Antifragile
  • Play The Long Game
  • Embrace Technology
  • Build and Trust The Process
  • Act as a Team of Expert Knowledge Workers

Far from your typical corporate “values” checklist, we hire, evaluate, and make our most important strategic decisions against these criteria. Here’s what those values mean to our company, our work, and our clients in practice.

Who We Are

Our team brings our “why” to life.

We’ve assembled a cadre of competent, passionate, self-directed craft experts that span the spectrum from traditional accounting and tax, to consulting, technology, and brand-building.

So unlike both local and big-name firms, we have a world-class team of true professionals that ensure that the numbers and compliance foundation are solid as a rock, but who are also equally versed in the deep industry knowledge our firm has cultivated.

Paired with our flat structure and remote culture, we’ll put our team up against not just any other firm in craft, but in the professional services as a whole. These are the folks that make the magic happen.

"We hired Small Batch Standard because managing our financials was a massive drain on our time. Then, we were pleasantly surprised to find we had connected with a partner that has a keen sense for business development combined with the always valuable outsider perspective."

Where We Came From

In 2010, Chris Farmand decided to put a stake in the ground and dedicate his firm to the craft brewing industry. Since then, Chris and the team have continued to deepen their craft-specific skill set and experience, and progress even further down that specialized path. As a result, the last 10 years have been spent serving over a hundred craft breweries and distilleries in the United States.

Start With The Foundations

Whenever we’re introduced to a new brewery, it’s one thing to tell them who we are, what we do, and how we do it. But one step better is to actually see our thinking in action.

Which is why we always recommend they start with our foundations: a collection of writing and resources that explore the real issues craft owners and operators are concerned with, not just the “flavor of the month” or self-congratulatory accounting speak.

Whether that’s our philosophy on Turning Pro as a brewery,  removing yourself (the owner) as the bottleneck to your brewery’s growth, or taking intelligent action as a leadership team, you’ll pick up pretty quickly what we’re all about.
