Q&A With Arica

What do you consider your professional superpowers to be?

I think the most important superpower I possess is the ability to take responsibility for every action I take including every single mistake. I had a professor in college who drilled this into our heads year after year. When you acknowledge your mistakes, it takes pressure off your team by letting them know that you are aware of your mistake and will take steps to correct it. If you will not acknowledge that you made a mistake, you cannot learn from it and your team will not trust you.

I also value the ability to turn a liability into a strength. I live in a house full of neurodivergence. Our road to success lies in finding those situations where our different processing styles can flourish. When we find our niche, our squirrely inattention becomes hyperfocus, and we rock it!

What do you enjoy most about the craft industry?

The joy of creation! I love watching dreams turn into beautiful products and thriving businesses. As a long-time business owner, I understand the reality of sweat equity and the joy and satisfaction found in the resulting success.

What’s your beverage of choice?

I am a tea drinker. Hot, iced, sweet, unsweetened, herbal, black, it doesn’t matter. I love tea. Sometimes I love it spiked too. Wink wink.

What are some of your other interests?

I love creating. It doesn’t matter if it’s music, art, or organization. I’m always looking for the next new project. Gotta chase that dopamine! I do have some long term project as well. I’m in the process of creating a book of Advent art for my kids. It’s been six years in the making, and I’m almost done! I also love reading and spending time with my kids and our zoo of animals.
