Brewery Tax Manager
Brent brings years of experience to Small Batch Standard within the Financial and Tax Services realm. Hailing from Raleigh, North Carolina, Brent previously supported the firm Koonce, Wooten, and Haywood, LLP as a Certified Public Accountant, Federal Taxation. Prior to then, Brent shared his expertise with KPMG as a Senior Associate, Federal Taxation.
With a strong background in the tax compliance process, Brent elevates the SBS team with his knowledge and commitment to his craft. Brent has an undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University and holds a Masters of Accounting and Information Systems from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

What do you consider your professional superpowers to be?
I would consider my professional superpowers to be my readiness to jump headfirst into new tax topics and issues, then translate my findings into productive and proactive solutions for our clients.
What’s the best part about working at SBS?
The way in which SBS allows me to apply my professional skills and tax knowledge to the brewing industry. As an avid homebrewer and craft beer enthusiast, I have appreciated the ability to bring together my professional and personal interests for the good of the industry I am passionate about.
What do you like most about the craft industry?
The range of styles and flavor profiles of craft beverages available to enthusiasts is forever expanding due the creativity and commitment of the individuals who make up the industry. I love the way that the craft industry has evolved into a place that encourages people to explore their passions while consistently pushing the limits of what can be done.
What are some of your other interests?
I enjoy homebrewing with my brother. I am an avid runner and regularly compete in half marathon races. I also like hiking with my dog in the mountains of NC.
What’s your craft beverage of choice?
I am a big fan of anything hoppy and hazy, but like to mix it up with the occasional sour.
